From employer negligence to the negligent operation of machinery, there are many reasons why employees continue to be involved in workplace accidents. Sadly, in San Bernardino County, and across the state of California, far too many employees have lost their lives or been injured in workplace accidents. When someone is hurt or killed in an accident on the job due to employer negligence, it is important to hold accountable those who are responsible.
A warehouse worker recently passed away in Illinois while operating a forklift. Authorities responded to the location of the accident at 1:24 a.m. and at 2:08 a.m., the forklift operator was declared dead. According to the Madison County Coroner’s Office, the 19-year-old worker struck his head on a loading dock after a truck that was being loaded pulled away.
An autopsy and toxicology test were scheduled for the worker, who had been employed by the company for under a month. The fatal accident will be investigated by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).
When there is an unsafe working environment, it is essential for employees and employers to do whatever they can to address the problem and prevent a work accident from claiming lives or causing injuries. Unfortunately, too many employers have failed to properly address every safety hazard in the workplace.
