Wrongful deaths occur in various ways and we have talked about many of them on our blog. In some instances, a person may pass away due to a defective product or an accident that happened in the work place because of someone else’s negligence. However, there are some people who are particularly vulnerable, such as elderly folks and those who live in assisted living care facilities, whose lives are lost because of negligence and carelessness. If your loved one passed away in a nursing home and you believe that their death occurred because of an employee’s poor behavior, you may want to look into the case further and pursue the justice your loved one deserves.
Aside from negligence that occurs in nursing homes, perhaps you believe your loved one died due to elder abuse that occurred in another environment, perhaps even their own home. For example, someone who was supposed to provide your family member with care in his or her home may have been responsible for their death. Elder abuse is devastating and many of the victims who endure this mistreatment are silenced or unable to stand up for their rights. In some cases, victims may not even know their rights have been violated or that they have options. Even when elder abuse does not result in the loss of life, those responsible for the suffering should be held accountable.
