In fact, it is literally the law to pull over and stop after an accident in California, so make sure that you do so. You should also call 911 in the aftermath. When you call 911, make sure to give the operator information about your location, report if there are any injuries on the scene, and let the operator know if the accident scene is dangerous. In the event that there are no injuries related to the accident and the accident itself is not causing traffic congestion, it is possible that police may not come to the scene.
It is law in California for both drivers involved in any kind of automobile accident to provide the following information to each other: the name of the driver, the name of the car owner (if different from the driver), the registration number of the car, and if you are asked you must show your driver’s license.
If anybody is injured on the scene of the accident, you are protected by Good Samaritan laws should you try to render medical assistance. In the event that somebody at the scene is injured and asks you to drive them to the hospital, you are required to do so if you are able.
