With regard to workplace accidents, there are a number of dangers that employees should always keep in mind. For example, workers should be aware of any hazards that are present in the workplace and follow safety guidelines at all times. Sadly, some jobsite accidents in San Bernardino and across California can’t be prevented, whether they are the result of mechanical failure, another worker’s negligence or some other factor that was out of the victim’s control.
A man who was working in Illinois fell 30 feet from a cherry picker and was taken to the hospital. The mishap knocked out power, affecting over 2,000 consumers, and also left three utility poles broken. The accident is being investigated by the company he worked for and no updates have been provided regarding his condition.
The accident took place in Forest Park at roughly 2 p.m. It appears that a crane operator was trying to lift a utility pole when part of the crane’s tower fell, striking a power line. Next, the power line struck a boom lift, which caused the electrical worker to fall out of the cherry picker.
After an on-the-job injury, victims may face a long road to recovery. Sometimes, the injuries are so severe that they can never return to the position they held prior to the accident. As a result, it is absolutely essential for workers who were involved in a jobsite accident to carefully assess their choices and some may want to consult an attorney.
