Although fatal workplace accidents happen in many fields, on-the-job accidents are especially prevalent in the construction industry. In San Bernardino, and across the entire state of California, construction workers face a variety of dangers every time they go to work. While some of these accidents result in minor injuries, others leave workers severely injured or even claim their lives. Furthermore, some are the result of negligence and could have been prevented.
A 52-year-old construction worker from Stockton lost his life in an accident that recently occurred on a construction site. Although the accident is being investigated by the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, a spokeswoman for Cal/OSHA said the agency is looking into a report which claims the worker was hit in the head by a beam or similar object that had fallen.
However, the Cal/OSHA spokeswoman also said that the cause of the worker’s death has yet to be determined and that the accident is being investigated. The construction accident took place near Modesto and work was halted at the site afterward. The coroner’s office reports that the man was declared dead at 8:52 in the morning.
