The details surrounding work accidents vary from one incident to another. Sometimes, a mishap may only cause minor injuries or even allow a worker to walk away unharmed. Sadly, workplace accidents in San Bernardino and all over California can also prove deadly, leaving the families of those who died with lasting emotional pain.
A California man was recently killed when he was hit by a beam while working at a steel plant. The company he worked for provided his family with funds to cover funeral costs, but some of his relatives said the accident could have been prevented and was the result of negligence on the company’s behalf. Although law enforcement officials say that no other workers witnessed the fatal accident, one of the man’s co-workers said that he hadn’t experienced an incident this significant in 30 years of working at the facility.
An investigation conducted by the state adds support to claims made by the man’s family members. In fact, the company he worked for was recently cited for violations by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. Officials also found that on the day he died, the man had taken on responsibilities that he was not trained for and did not have proper supervision.
After a fatal workplace accident, families may have a multitude of challenges to overcome. However, they may be able to gain access to certain benefits which help them immensely. For many who are facing these burdens, connecting with a legal professional who knows how to handle these cases can be helpful.
