When a fatal workplace accident occurs, family members may be unsure of which options they have or feel hopeless altogether. However, people who are facing this unimaginable hardship should fully assess their situation. For some in San Bernardino, and elsewhere in California, death benefits through workers’ compensation have provided families who have experienced unbearable emotional and financial suffering with a lifeline.
Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in a deadly accident that recently took place in Yuba County. The incident, which claimed the life of a 52-year-old California man, is still being investigated. Law enforcement officials say that the man accidentally drove his truck off the road while when he was backing up.
While heading in reverse, the truck flipped over and left the man submerged underwater in an irrigation canal, causing him to lose his life. The identity of the man who passed away has not been disclosed at this time. Officials also say that at the time of his death, the worker was performing his job responsibilities.
Losing a loved one often causes pain that some people cannot understand. Sadly, the death of a family member may also result in a plethora of additional problems, such as unpaid bills and funeral costs. For families who are trying to restore some normalcy following a fatal workplace accident (or even an accident that left their loved one injured), reaching out to a legal professional who has handled many of these types of cases could prove valuable.
