When it comes to workplace injuries, the accidents and situations employees are involved in take many forms. For example, some construction workers are injured after falling off of a ladder, while other employees are hurt after slipping on a wet surface. However, it is important for workers in San Bernardino and the rest of California to remember some of the less common causes of workplace injuries, such as being attacked by another person.
Officials say that a hospital worker in California suffered serious injuries after a patient attacked him. Jail records show that a 36-year-old man was recently booked at 3:54 a.m. after allegedly assaulting the patient. The employee is receiving treatment at a medical facility in San Luis Obispo.
The alleged attacker is facing multiple felony charges, including assault, elder abuse and battery. Certain details related to the alleged attack, such as any weapons used, have not been disclosed at this time. The man is being held on $50,000 bail.
After suffering an injury at work, some employees are unsure of how to handle the situation. However, it is imperative for them to explore all of their options and focus on recovering. Sometimes, taking legal action to secure benefits such as workers’ compensation may be a wise decision. For injured employees who are not familiar with the legal system or unsure of which steps to take next, talking to a knowledgeable attorney may be a smart move.
