Whether a construction worker is hurt after using dangerous machinery or struck by falling debris, construction sites present many hazards. That said, falling is especially prevalent and results in a large number of injuries and fatalities each year. In San Bernardino, and jobsites across California, those employed in the construction industry should recognize the risk of falling whenever they work on a ladder, roof or scaffolding. Unfortunately, construction worker accidents will continue to occur regardless of the safety measures that are taken.
Law enforcement officials say that a jobsite fall recently claimed the life of a 54-year-old construction worker in Chicago. Although authorities were investigating what happened, they said that the man’s death seemed to be accidental. At first, the incident was reported to officials as a traffic accident.
According to authorities, the man was working on the third floor of a building when he fell down. Next, the worker was transported to the hospital before he was declared dead. The fall was reported at roughly 9:15 on a Friday morning.
From physical pain, loss of life, medical expenses and permanent injuries, jobsite mishaps make life complicated in many ways. After a jobsite accident, a number of issues may arise for those involved. For example, if another person’s negligent behavior caused the unfortunate event, the victim or their family should attempt to hold them accountable. Additionally, if a worker is hurt, they could find value in taking a closer look at workers’ compensation benefits.
